My New Friend

Last week, I met my new friend at school. Her name is Lily. I was sitting in the classroom, working on a math assignment, when she came in and sat next to me.

"Hello," she said with a smile. Her eyes were as bright as the sun, and her dark hair was tied back in a cute little ponytail. I liked her immediately.

"Hi," I replied, smiling back. "I'm Lisa." We started talking right away, like we'd known each other forever. She told me she's from another country, but she's been in my class for a few weeks now.

The next day, Lily invited me to join her for recess. I wasn't sure what to play, but she suggested a game of jump rope. I had never played that before, but Lily was very patient and taught me how to do it. We laughed a lot as I tried to keep up with her.

After school, Lily asked me if I would like to walk home together. Her home is only a few blocks away from mine, so we walked together, chattering like two birds. I felt happy and light-hearted, as if I had a new best friend.

On the way, I noticed that Lily carried a small notebook and a pen in her pocket. "What are you drawing?" I asked. She showed me the pages, and I was amazed at her beautiful sketches of flowers and trees. She said she loves drawing and plans to become an artist one day.

Since then, Lily and I have become best friends. We share everything: our secrets, our hopes, and even our fears. Every day, I look forward to seeing her in class and playing together after school. I feel lucky to have such a wonderful friend by my side.
