Mid-Autumn Festival Joy

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most significant traditional festivals in China. It is a time when family members gather together to celebrate the harvest and enjoy the full moon. I have always loved this festival because it reminds me of the beauty of the moonlight and the warmth of home.

Every year, on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, the sky is filled with a brilliant silver moon. People prepare for the festival by decorating their homes with lanterns and tapestries, and children write wishes on paper lanterns. We gather on the rooftop or in the garden to gaze at the moon. It is a moment of quiet reflection and connection with nature.

One of my favorite traditions is eating mooncakes. These round pastries with sweet fillings are a symbol of the festival. We usually share them with our family and friends, discussing stories and laughter. The crust is often flavored with lotus seed paste or red bean paste, and the mooncakes are nicely packaged in colorful boxes. It feels like each bite brings happiness and togetherness.

The Mid-Autumn Festival also reminds me of the importance of unity and gratitude. It is a time to appreciate the harvest and the blessings of the past year. Families prepare offerings to the moon, such as incense, flowers, and fruits, as a way to express their gratitude and wish for good health and wealth in the coming year.

This year, even though I am away from home, the spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival is still with me. I think about the full moon hanging in the sky, the delicious mooncakes, and the laughter of my family. It makes me realize that no matter where I am, the joy of the festival stays in my heart.
